Lester E. Shoop Lester Elias Shoop, 93, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Sarasota, Florida and Houston, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the Masonic Village. Born June 30, 1913, in Halifax, to the late Joseph and Sarah (Lubold) Shoop, he retired in 1982 as an engineer from Brown and Root, Inc., in Houston after 41 years. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, Sarasota; the Susquehanna Lodge #364, Millersburg; the Waltrip Masonic Lodge #1328, Houston; Sarasota Masonic Lodge #147; Scottish Rite Temple, Tampa; Tampa Consistory; Sahib Temple Shrine AASONMS, Sarasota; Sarasota American Legion; and was an Army Veteran of World War II, receiving the Bronze Star for service during the European Theater. He was the widower of Alice Jo (Gilpin) Shoop and Mary Winifred (Sheetz) Earnhart Shoop. Surviving are his step son, Sherman (and his wife, Cathy) Earnhart of Marionville, MO; one brother, Harold E. (and his wife, Helen) Shoop of Bradenton, FL; 2 sisters, Alverta Kraft and Violet Knight, both of Elizabethtown; 2 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Zimmerman Auer Funeral Home, 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, with the Rev. Dr. John L. Sproat officiating. Viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home, where a Masonic Service will take place at 7:45 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
